Bath Voice Theatre News: The Rondo is set to stage a production of Rent set in the New York of the late 1980s about the hopes, aspirations, troubles and love stories of a group of young people

From Maple Theatre ahead of their production of Rent at the Rondo Theatre: A creative adaptation of the smash hit musical ‘RENT’ is coming to the Rondo Theatre, Bath, 13th – 16th March, 2024. Tickets are on sale now from rondotheatre.co.uk (age 14+) for £19.50.

The production, presented by Maple Theatre Company, is loosely based on the opera La bohème and tells the story of a group of artists in Manhattan’s East Village, struggling to build a life under the shadow of drug abuse, political unrest and HIV. The group’s hopes, aspirations, troubles and love stories are weaved through the musical, creating a raw and emotional portrait of New York City in the 1980s/90s.

Luke Hockett, who is producing the show, said: “As a production company based in the South West, we couldn’t be more excited to bring our adaptation of RENT to The Rondo Theatre this March. We’ve been working on this production for months, and we hope it will have audiences smiling, crying and on the edge of their seat as they watch the story of these young struggling artists unfold. It’s going to be a great story to tell!”
