Bath Voice News: police describe ‘concerning incident’ in the south area of the city with the arrest of a man on a charge of attempted murder

By Harry Mottram: There has been considerable shock in Bath after a man was violently assaulted on the morning of Tuesday 30th April, 2024, in Sheridan Road. The man who is understood by Bath Voice to be in his 40s was taken to hospital what have been described in reports in the media as having ‘life changing significant wounds.’

Following the assault police have confirmed that a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The assault say police took place in the night but were not called to the street until breakfast time where an injured man was found in the Twerton suburb.

In a statement, Avon & Somerset Police said: “Officers attended alongside the ambulance service and a man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital with injuries which are being treated as life-changing, but not life-threatening.

“A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault by causing actual bodily harm. He remains in police custody.”

Neighbourhood Inspector Jon Nash said: “We recognise this is a very concerning incident and we are conducting a thorough investigation into what happened.
