Bath Voice News: Letter to the Editor on the subject of Bath’s Medical Museum and its programme of events after its first year in operation plus news of a talk in conjunction with The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Dear Editor,

After a very successful first year of operation, Bath Medical Museum enters its second year with an exciting and varied programme of activities and exhibitions. As part of commemorating The centenary of Meeting of of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in Bath, BMM has devised a walking trail which visits all the important sights associated with it along with an exhibition devised by Millie a history student from Bath Spa University. She has researched the life and work of The Morrises of The Min – The 18th Century Bath Apothecary family, mother, son and daughter in law. The exhibition demonstrates the work of 18th century Apothecaries and how it is not so very different from modern day pharmacists. While Vienne a postgraduate student from the University of Bath will in conjunction with the Chinese University of Hong Kong be running a workshop to share how people can improve their learning skills.

In collaboration with the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, we will collectively engage with the general public in factors that facilitate and hinder engagement with pedagogic research, and explore any possible solutions.

Date: 14 November 2024 (Thursday)

Time: 2 – 3pm
Venue: The Hetling Pump Room, Bath Medical Museum

Speakers: Vienne Lin and Paul Lam, Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research, Chinese University of Hong Kong

Talk: Building on our earlier workshop, “Decoding Teaching and Pedagogic Research,” this session explores what helps and what hinders teachers in researching their own practice. Without engaging in pedagogic research, how can you truly know what resonates with your students? When time and resources are tight, how can you maximise their impact? Imagine you are a lecturer juggling various commitments — how can you still make pedagogic research happen? The talk will cover some support services that the Teaching and Learning Community of Practice (T&L CoP) offers to teachers across disciplines.

Your voice matters! Join us for an interactive talk where ideas flow freely.

This is a free event to attend, but registration is required as we have limited seats.

Capacity: 20 pax max per session.
