Nurry Lee’s Statement ♫♬

I believe that music enriches the soul and can help to bring all people closer together. My mission is about giving access to classical piano music to as many people as possible. I would play in Carnegie Hall one day, and a pub down the road the next day. For me, music itself has no boundaries.

It has always been my objective, since I was quite young. At least, since I was a teenager, when I first became aware of these social boundaries and barriers surrounding classical music. It almost made no sense to me. Classical music, as I know it, was a form of art that has helped me in many ways, and that is a type of art form that strays AWAY from all these barriers of society.

I think, if you discover something great, why keep it to yourself? I also feel like in these times of technology, mental health and society as it is…classical music can be genuinely healing and essential to the human soul. Music with real depth and substance.

BRLSI: The Nutcracker A Timeless Christmas Classic ♫♬

Making her debut appearance at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, Nurry will be signing off this year’s successful music talks with a discussion on The Nutcracker Suite by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Performing live the same piece arranged by Mikhail Pleynev, which condensed the orchestral piece down to be performed on a single piano, it is considered one of the most difficult pieces on the Piano and has become one of Nurry signature pieces serving as her main piece both in her debut concerts in her hometown of Bath and her first performance at Carnegie Hall.

In this talk, Nurry will explore the piece and how its composition has helped ensure it one of the few pieces of classical art to transcend time and remain a core piece of our modern cultural zeitgeist. This talk will not just sign off a string of successful music talks at BRLSI including the likes of Bob Dylan and Bluegrass Music but also is part of BRLSI Bicentennial celebration.

Nurry will be speaking on the 29th November 7.30PM at BRLSI in Queen Square.

Keynsham Winter Festival  ♫♬

Following her sold out performance in Keynsham back in May at the Space. Nurry will be returning to Keynsham and braving the cold in order to put on a live performance as part of the Winter Festival and in order to unveil the new community piano being introduced to Keynsham, which was kindly donated by Mickleburgh Musical Instruments in Bristol. This piano not just will bring music to the streets to Keynsham but will grant access to inspiring musicians, amateur performers and those young and old who want to dip their toes. Granting new level access that was not there before and very much in line with Nurry’s own philosophy of music being a positive influence on communities and society as a whole and the importance of breaking down barriers of access to all people. When asked about taking part and promoting this momentous event in Keynsham’s music scene.

Nurry will be performing on the 30th November at 1PM on Temple Street, Keynsham.
