Bath Voice Sports News: January and beyond fixture lists for the city’s top teams including Team Bath Netball Next Gen games

Bath City Women FC
The Bath City Women Development Team play in the Somerset County Women’s League in Division 2 North. See https://www.bathcityfc.com/
Home fixtures kick off at 2pm on Sunday afternoons and it’s only £3 on the turnstile.
On January 5th they are away to Corsham Town and they are away again on January 12th at Gloucester City.
They play at home on Sunday 19th January when they play St Vallier and then make the journey to Royal Wootton Bassett for an away fixture on Sunday 26th January.
In February they face Purton at Twerton Park on Sunday 2nd February with three away trips to follow in a row at Downend Flyers 9th, SGS Olveston 16th and St Vallier 23rd Feb.
March sees them face Bitton on Sunday 2nd at home.

Bath City FC
Bath play in the National League South, the sixth tier of the football pyramid. The home ground is Twerton Park.

The New Year’s day fixture is at Twerton Park against Farnborough while the first Saturday fixtures is away on the 4th January in Dorking. On Saturday 11th January they face Chelmsford City at home followed by an away trip to Enfield on the 18th. The next two league games are at home to Chesham United of the 25th and then a long trip to Cornwall to face Truro City on the 28th January. Into February and on Saturday 1st February another away fixture – this time it is the turn of Worthing.
Hornchurch are the opponents on Saturday 8th February when the Romans will be hoping for a large gate at Twerton Park.

Bath Rugby Union Club
The Blue, Black and Whites play at the Rec in Bath and play in the Champions cup and the Gallagher Premiership league – the top flight. See https://www.bathrugby.com/
The BB&Ws start 2025 away to Northampton in the Premiership on Sunday January 5th. They are at home on the 12th against Clermont Auvergne and then away on the 18th against Leinster. Another away game on 26 Jan at Sale befor a home game against Bedford on 2 Feb.

Larkhall Athletic FC
Founded in 1914 the Larks play in the Southern League Division One South (SLD1S) and are based at the Securitas Stadium, Plain Ham. With a development team, a youth team and a women’s team the Larks are one of the leading outfits in the city. They are part of Larkhall Sports Club. Visit https://larkhallathletic.com/
Their New Year’s Day game is against local rivals Westbury away in Wiltshire while on Saturday 4th January they are at home against Devon outfit Tavistock with a 3pm KO.
The following Saturday on the 11th they travel to Cornwall to face Falmouth Town. On Saturday 18th January they have a home game against local rivals Yate Town with a second home match on the 25th – this time against Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
Into February and on Saturday 1st February and it’s a trip Thatcham Town while a week later they play Cribbs on Saturday the 8th February at Plain Ham.

Odd Down AFC
They are currently members of the Western League Division One (WLD1) and play at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground. See https://www.odddownbathafc.co.uk/
On Wednesday 1st January they play Sturminster Newton with the first Saturday of the 2025 seeing them face Hallen on the 4th. Other matches are Bitton at home on the 11th, AEK Boco away on the 25th while in February they face Cribbs reserves on 1st February at home and then play them away the following Saturday.

Bath Saracens RFUC Rugby
Bath Saracens are an amateur rugby club competing in the Dorset & Wilts 3 Central. Formed on 13th March 1947, Bath Saracens are still going strong 75 years on. See https://bathsaracens.co.uk/events/category/games/
In January and the first home game is on the 11th against Trowbridge IIIs, with a return match against them on the 18th. In February they have Corsham away on the 1st and Warminster at home on the 15th.

Walcot RFC
Founded as The Victoria and Walcot Rugby Football Club in 1882 the club are based at Albert Field, Lansdown, Bath BA1 9BJ
Walcot play Sherborne on Saturday 11th January at home and then are are away to Melksham on Saturday 18th January. A home game against Salisbury on the 1st of February with a match down in Dorset in Dorchester on Saturday 15th February.

Athletics: Team Bath Athletics Club is based at the University of Bath Sports Training Village and is open to all abilities and ages from 7 upwards. Boules: City of Bath Pétanque Club. The club plays Pétanque and is open to all, with juniors and non-players welcome. If you haven’t played before, give it a go. Bowling: Bath Bowling Club. Based at Pulteney Road the club is open for membership to anyone who wishes to take up the sport, whether you wish to play socially, competitively or both. Cricket: Bath Cricket Club: The club is based at North Parade and was founded in 1859 and has a long and interesting history charted on their website at https://www.bathcricket.com/

There are four main teams – with two elevens of the Bath Wanderers Women sides and an U19’s XI as well. Plus, there are teams for girls from U10s to U15s, and youth cricket for the same ages – to join or for more info visit the website. The men’s first team play in the West of England Premier Cricket League (WEPL), the ECB National Club Championship, the ECB T20 competition and the Somerset Cup.

Cricket: Bear Flat Cricket Club. Established in 1982, the Bears are in Division 1 of the Wiltshire County Cricket League (WCCL) on Saturdays, with a home ground at The Glasshouse Academy, Bradford Road, Combe Down, Bath; there’s also games in Division 7 Blue of the Somerset Monmouth League on Saturdays, home ground the Ken Willcox Ground, Peasedown St John, Bath; and friendlies against clubs based in Somerset/Wiltshire on Sundays; and T20 games against clubs based in Somerset/Wiltshire midweek; plus they participation in the Somerset Knock Out cup.

Cricket: Hampset Cricket Club: based at Bloomfield Rise, Odd Down, Bath, the club was founded in 1940 and features a large number of elevens including the Scholars, development XI, midweek Saturday and Sunday elevens, junior teams from under 9s to u13s and indoor squads. Cricket: Somerset County Cricket Club

The club are based at the county ground in Taunton although in the past have played some matches at Bath and Weston-super-Mare. They are in the top flight of the cricket structure and have two first class elevens plus a women’s team and female players can be selected for the regional team Western Storm. Modern Pentathlon: Team GB had an incredible performance at the home World Championships held at the University of Bath, with a seven-strong squad qualifying across the women’s and men’s finals.

Swimming: Dolphins: Based at Bath Leisure Centre and established in 1899, Bath Dolphin Swimming Club (BDSC) is one of the oldest swimming clubs in the South West Region. They provide competitive swimming opportunities for young swimmers through to a masters swimming group. As a holder of the Swim England quality accreditation, Swim Mark, they offer a year round competitive swim team with high quality coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities.
