Mission Theatre
Tue 21-Sat 25 Jan. Jerusalem. Jez Butterworth’s play set in a wood in Wiltshire where Johnny Rooster Byron faces eviction from his mobile home. Next Stage’s acclaimed 2012 production of Jez Butterworth’s award-winning smash hit is back at The Mission Theatre for the venue’s 20th Birthday week. It’s St George’s Day, the morning of the local county fair; Johnny “Rooster” Byron, local waster and modern-day Pied Piper, is a wanted man embattled in the Wessex woodland. 7.30pm with a Saturday 2pm matinee.

Fri 31 Jan. Stable. Jack, a troubled psychologist, finds himself drawn to his client, Ava, over the course of their therapy sessions. In his own therapy with Tara, he attempts to explore these feelings but falters – resulting in a breakdown in the very safeguards surrounding therapy. This gripping narrative delves into relationships, boundaries and the repercussions of our actions. Told through duologues between the four characters, Stable is a modern cautionary tale. From about 1890 up to the 1930s, readers of the The Clarion newspaper formed clubs and societies dedicated to leisure and educational pursuits for the furtherance of health and wellbeing – Clarion Cycling, Clarion Rambling, Scouts, Vocal Unions (choirs), drama groups, brass bands – as well as the Clarion Van for the promotion of Socialism. Dave’s dream is to star in an Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical.
