Bath Voice News: incident in the city centre as car reverses into shop and hits car and bus

By Harry Mottram: In a video clip widely shown on social media a car appears to reverse into Sports Direct at speed causing damage as well as hitting a parked car opposite and a bus further down Westgate Buildings.

Bath Live ran a report that showed several photos of the incident that took place on Friday 17 January, 2025. They reported the police and fire service’s statements concerning the incident as follows:

Avon & Somerset Police said in a statement: “We were called at 2.01pm to reports a car had collided with a bus, two parked vehicles and a building in Westgate Buildings in Bath.

“Officers attended alongside the ambulance service. A man was taken to hospital but no one is believed to have suffered any serious injuries.

“The road was briefly closed but has since reopened.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 14:02hrs on Friday 17 January to a road traffic collision in Bath.

“We sent one double-crewed land ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Royal United Hospital Bath.”
