Bath Voice News. Beechen Cliff School’s headteacher heralds ‘fantastic’ A level results as the students ‘demonstrated commitment and perseverance’ – while 90% head off to University this autumn

From Beechen Cliff School: Beechen Cliff students have been celebrating another fantastic set of A Level results this summer. At A Level 29% of grades achieved were A/A grades, 65% were at A-B and 88% of grades were at A*- C, well above the national average for England this year. Students studying vocational courses also achieved excellent results with an average grade of a Distinction.

90% of our Year 13 students are about to embark on their next steps at university. This means that over 180 students are now going to take up places at their chosen universities with 82% of these achieving their first choice course. Some highlights include students achieving places at Oxford University to study Geography, Cambridge University to study Law, and four Medicine places at Bristol, Exeter and Newcastle. Other exciting destinations include Exeter, Imperial College London, London School of Economics, Durham and Edinburgh.

Other students are moving onto Art Foundation courses, apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships, the armed forces, professional sporting contracts, employment or gap years.

Headteacher, Tim Markall, said “we are really proud of what our students have achieved. They have demonstrated commitment and perseverance throughout their courses and thoroughly deserve their success. We hope they are excited by the future and wish them all the best for their next steps in education, training or employment. I would also like to thank all our teachers and support staff who work incredibly hard to support our students through their Level 3 courses and to help them prepare for exams.”

Head of Sixth Form, Kim Mather, added “after two years of hard work and dedication, we are incredibly pleased with what our Year 13 students have achieved. It was wonderful to celebrate with this special cohort of bright young people this morning, and to wish them all the best in their many varied future endeavours. I have every confidence that these strong results will only be the springboard for further successes.”
