Tue 16-Fri 19 Sep. The Complete Works of Jane Austen (Abridged). One newbie and two self-professed Janeites, through almost all means imaginable, tackle the entire canon of Jane Austen’s works. Written by Jessica Bedford, Kathryn MacMillan, Charlotte Northeast & Meghan Winch. Three nimble actors take on all of Austen’s beloved heroines, friends, and love interests—and her incisive social satire—in just 80 minutes. It is a truth universally acknowledged that an audience in possession of high spirits must be in want of a ticket to this big-hearted comedy that will delight Janeites and newcomers alike. Suitable for ages 14+ (contains swearing and sexual references). 8pm.

But what is it and how did it get there? Based on a true story, discover how a modern unearthing illuminates a bold and raw historic tale of survival, love, and sacrifice. 7:30pm. Thu 25 – Sat 27 Sep. Met by Moonlight. Written by Adam Evans. Presented by Luna Theatrics. Met by Moonlight is a queer, modern retelling of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Follow our four lovers as they venture deep into the forest of Athens. When the curtain between our world and the Fae Kingdom draws thin, who knows what magical forces they will come across. From fighting fairies and warring lovers to men with donkeys’ heads, the forest is alive with your wildest dreams, glittering with your favourite hits from Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie and Queen and more. We’ll put on a show by the light of the moon, come and get lost in the woods. 2:30pm & 7:30pm.
Wed 8-Sat 11 Oct. Travesties. Bath Drama stage Tom Stoppard’s play set in 1917. Henry Carr plays Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest, then sues the company’s business manager, James Joyce. Carr’s unreliable memories in a hilarious tale of love, art, revolution and espionage. With a plot borrowed from Wilde’s classic comedy plus the liberal sampling of theatrical and literary sources on the way, it’s an erudite and very funny dramatic mash-up and a lesser-spotted Stoppard gem.

Thu 11-Sat 20 Sep. Emma. The beautiful, high-spirited Emma Woodhouse is determined that she will never marry but loves to meddle in her friends’ and neighbours’ relationships. When her confidante and former governess, Miss Taylor weds her fiancé Mr Weston, Emma, having introduced the couple, takes credit for the marriage and decides that a future in matchmaking lies ahead of her. So begins a comic journey through the lives and loves of Emma’s friends and neighbours, embracing the burgeoning Regency social scene of Bath and Weymouth. Evenings 7.30pm. Thu 4 Sep-Sat 4 Oct. Endgame. Award-winning actor, director and writer Douglas Hodge and acclaimed film and television actor Clive Francis join the previously announced Mathew Horne and Selina Cadell in Samuel Beckett’s macabre comedy. In a bare room, Hamm, an old, blind tyrant is locked in a stalemate with his servant Clov. Interrupted by the nostalgic musings of Hamm’s ancient, dustbin-dwelling parents, Hamm and Clov do their best to ignore the older pair, and cling stubbornly to their comic routine of casual savagery and mutual dependence.
