Sat 4 Oct. Bath Abbey. Classical concert. 7pm. The City of Bristol Brass Band with Lewis Merthyr Brass Band take you on an earthly and cosmic journey with a programme that features Holst’s ‘The Planets’.
Sat 4 Oct. Bath City Farm. Autumn Fayre. 11-3pm. Join us for a seasonal celebration that brings the community together to mark autumn and its harvests. There’s something for everyone from apple games to a runner duck derby! Entry is free (small charges for some activities). All proceeds support the Farm’s work with the local community

During the festival, the beautifully inventive city of Bath in South West England is filled with film fans coming together for an indulgent programme of previews, special events, Q&As, documentary features, silent films with new live scores, shorts and of course the IMDb Awards. Sat 25 Oct. St Alphege’s Church, Oldfield Lane. Concert: Cappella Nova: A Journey Through Light and Shadow. 7.30pm. A concert exploring humanity’s eternal journey through darkness toward light, from ancient texts to modern expressions in music from the 16th century to the present day. With music by Thomas Tallis through to recent times with Benjamin Britten, John Tavener and Eric Whitacre, the programme covers themes of light through the ages, through our bonds with others, sleep, dreams and darkness and dawn and blessing. £15/£8 https://www.cappellanova.org.uk
Fri 31 Oct. Rock the Tots: Spooky Fun. Rondo Theatre. 11am. £8. Music for tiny tots and their parents from Steph and Craig Mitchell. We’re edging closer to Halloween, and Steph and Craig are back with all things spooky and ghouly! Don’t worry – nothing too scary for the babies and Littles… or grown-ups for that matter! But there will be some seasonal bangers – think Monster Mash, Ghostbusters and The Cranberries to name a few. Get into the mood and come in spooky fancy dress. Sessions are approximately 1 hour long, without an interval. Ages 0-6, and their adults. Under 1s go free!

Walcot State Choir celebrates their 25th anniversary concert; old favourites, and glorious new songs to celebrate the voices, community, and friendships in full voices together. Mon 3 Nov. English Touring Opera. The Rape of Lucretia. Theatre Royal Bath. 7:30pm. In ancient Rome, Lucretia is assaulted by the tyrannical prince Tarquinius, an outrage that shatters her life and sets the stage for his own downfall. Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia was written in the aftermath of the Second World War and reflects a world wondering how to remake itself after enormous suffering and destruction. Performed in English with English subtitles
Fri 7-Sat 15 Nov. Bath Mozartfest. Concerts in Bathwick, The Forum, Guildhall and Bath Abbey celebrating the composer with links to the city.

Picks of Diary Events outside Bath
Fri 3 Oct. Bitton. Wine Festival at Bitton Railway Station. Avon Valley Railway, stage the event with stalls selling local cheese, wines, gins, rums, liqueurs, craft beers and ciders, with free canapes, all within the historic ambience of an 1869 railway station.
Sat 1 Nov. Bridgwater Carnival and Somerset carnival season. The annual procession of illuminated carts (not floats in Bridgwater) assembles at around 6pm with the finale of squibbing – hundreds of handheld fireworks by approved officials outside the town hall a sight to behold. Other events to celebrate the carnival throughout the week with a fun fair in St Matthew’s Field. Other carnivals across Somerset follow with Burnham on Sea on Mon 3rd Nov; Weston Super Mare Fri 7th; North Petherton Sat 8th Nov; Midsomer Norton Mon 10th Nov; Shepton Mallet Wed12th Nov; Wells Fri 14th Nov; Glastonbury 15th Nov. Parking is a problem at all the towns on carnival night so either go early or for Bridwater take the train.
