By Harry Mottram: It was a match where it wasn’t just about which university has the best rugby union team but the honour of the universities as well. The Anniversary Game between the University of Bath and Exeter University at the Rec saw the Devon academics edge the closely contested game by 35-38 in front of 9,000 spectators. With only minutes to go Bath led by 35-25 but and a last minute try, and a penalty saw the visitors edge the win. The city’s University team next face Nottingham on Wednesday 22nd October at the campus in Bath.

Bath Rugby touched down five times to dominate Gloucester in their latest PREM encounter on October 11th at the Recreation Ground running out 38-17. The win puts the team on top of the league table. The team ran out 4-0 winners in a Francis Hillier Premier Cup fixture against Bridgwater United at Twerton Park on 15th October. The goals were bagged by Sweeten who had a brace and Ash and Alves also netted in front of the smallest gate of the season with 359 fans seeing the rout of the Somerset side. Next up for the Romans is on Saturday when they play Hornchurch away.
The Larks lost out on Tuesday 14th October to Inkberrow but gained a point the previous Saturday with a 2-2 draw against Willand. Odd Down lost their third match in a row with the latest defeat at the hands of the Oldland Abbotonians by 2-1 away from home.
