Those who dare to enter will experience the psychological paranoia of total darkness, confinement and an assault on all the senses as they venture over five floors of torment, whilst encountering hellish characters that tap into our most deep-seated fears.Sat 1 Nov. Thu 6 Nov. Museum of Bath at Work. Bath Railway Society talk on the Train Ferries of WW1 and WW2. By Gordon Adams. How Cross-Channel Train Ferries were first introduced during the first World War to move railway equipment to France, and their use in WW2 following commercial introduction of the Harwich-Zeebrugge and DoverCalais Train Ferries between the wars. 7.30pm. All Welcome. Visitors £5. Refreshments available.

Tue 11 Nov. Zoë McGee on Courting Disaster at Topping & Company Booksellers of Bath, York Street. 7pm. What do #MeToo and Jane Austen have in common? More than you might think. We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, starting at 10am at the west end of Widcombe Parade. Walks last between 1-2 hours and are medium paced. Come dressed for the weather, with suitable footwear and be prepared for a few climbs. Registration not necessary – just turn up!

Join us for an evening in Bath with bestselling author Chloe Gong to celebrate her new cyberpunk epic: Coldwire. Chloe is the author of the beloved These Violent Delights duology, and has most recently been working on her adult series, Immortal Longings.
Wed 19 Nov. Bath Preservation Trust Talk. Wharf Room, Widcombe Social Club. Dr Amy Frost, celebrated speaker, historian and senior curator of the Bath Preservation Trust will explain how a thriving Widcombe community was demolished in the 1960s to make way for road schemes and redevelopment. This is a story of lost homes, displaced families in the streets around Claverton Street to make way for the A36 road scheme, bus station and later the Southgate shopping centre. The bar will be open at 7pm, and parking will be available in the Prior Park Garden Centre from 6:45pm.

Topping Books present a festive evening of poetry to celebrate the new Christmas poem from Carol Ann Duffy, former Poet Laureate. It’s Christmas Eve in London’s financial district. A billionaire in his penthouse suite is visited by the ghost of Sarah Whitehead, the grief-stricken nun who has haunted the Bank of England for hundreds of years. 7pm.

Mon 1 Dec. Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution.16-18 Queen Square. Renaissance series. Gutenberg & the European invention of printing. Dr Kristian Jensen. The first media age? Who was Gutenberg, and what motivated him to start a printing revolution? 7:30-9pm.
Picks of Diary Events outside Bath
Sat 1 Nov. Bridgwater Carnival and Somerset carnival season. The annual procession of illuminated carts (not floats in Bridgwater) assembles at around 6pm with the finale of squibbing – hundreds of handheld fireworks by approved officials outside the town hall a sight to behold. Plusr events to celebrate the carnival throughout the week with a fun fair in St Matthew’s Field. Other carnivals across Somerset follow with Burnham on Sea on Mon 3rd Nov; Weston Super Mare Fri 7th; North Petherton Sat 8th Nov; Midsomer Norton Mon 10th Nov; Shepton Mallet Wed12th Nov; Wells Fri 14th Nov; Glastonbury 15th Nov. Parking is a problem at all the towns on carnival night so either go early or for Bridgwater take the train.
7 Nov-23 Dec. Bristol Christmas Market in Broadmead. Craft and gift stalls and entertainment throughout the trading period will include singers, bands, and DJs. Children will enjoy bubble-blowing fairies, balloon artists and Santa.
