By Harry Mottram: Bath Rugby got their 2025/26 Investec Champions Cup campaign off to the perfect start with a six-try bonus point win over Munster Rugby at The Rec by 40-14. See https://www.bathrugby.com/content/match-report-bath-rugby
Bath City overcame a potentially tricky away game up the road at Odd Down in the cup with an emphatic 0-4 win to take the bragging rights this season as the city’s top team. See https://www.bathcityfc.com/city-in-action-odd-down-bath-afc-francis-hillier-premier-cup-2nd-round/
However, they came down to earth with a bump as Maidstone turned them over in the league.
Fans will be hoping the team can maintain their position in the lower half of the league with a concerted push to get within shot of the play-offs by March. Rolling back the years to five decades ago in the 1975-76 season when the team was in the Southern League Premier Division when the weather was dominated by The Drought and Wimbledon finished top – on their way to the heights they later achieved. Bath finished mid table on 38 points – 2 points for a win in those days. Bert Head was the boss until October when Jack Smith took the seat in the dugout.
In other news Odd Down Women FC lose to Banwell in the cup but put six past Staplegrove.
