Fri 6 Dec. Bath Abbey. Handel’s Messiah – Bath Choral Society. 7.30pm.
Sat 7 Dec. Widcombe Social Club. Christmas Quiz. A not-too-serious but sometimes challenging quiz with various general knowledge, picture and music rounds – some with a festive theme. Teams of up to 6 but do book if you have a smaller team and we will do our best to make up numbers on the night. Prizes for at least the top 3 teams.
Sat 7 Dec. Christmas Choral Concert. St Stephen’s Church, Lansdown. With CitySound Voices choir with The Harmonics and mezzo-soprano Cassie Dalby, as they perform Christmas Magic, a sparkling programme of seasonal music. The concert is in aid of The Peggy Dodd Centre. £12 (under 18s £5) on the door. 7.30pm.
Sun 8 Dec. Odd Down Cycle Track. Bath Mind’s Mental Elf Fun Run. Mental Elf is a family-friendly festive fun run open to all ages and running abilities, with a 2km and 5km route available. 10am.
Mon 9 Dec. Weihnachtsfeierabend: An Evening of German Christmas Celebrations at the BRLSI.
Tue 10 Dec. Christmas Concert for the RUH. All Saints Church, Weston. The evening will be hosted by celebrity antiques expert Paul Martin, with live performances from local choirs, bands and solo musicians, readings from local members of the community and RUH staff members, your chance to win brilliant festive prizes in our Christmas raffle and enjoy seasonal refreshments and delicious festive treats. 6-8:30pm. Wed 11 Dec. Carols at the Rec. An evening of carols, family fun and a celebration of Christmas at the Recreation Ground.
Wed 11 Dec. Chapel Arts Basement. Jackie Oates & John Spiers – “A Midwinter’s Night” Carols at the Rec. An evening with the contemporary folk artists as they meld together their shared love of English traditional folk tunes and songs with their fine voices and expertly played acoustic instruments. 7.30pm.
Wed 11 Dec. Widcombe. Wayfarers Walking Wednesdays. A friendly stroll to the countryside. We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, starting at 10am at the west end of Widcombe Parade. Walks last between 1-2 hours and are medium paced. Come dressed for the weather, with suitable footwear and be prepared for a few climbs.Registration not necessary – just turn up!

Fri 13 Dec. Mission Theatre. Classical music: TV’s Bridgerton; Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Bristol Ensemble string quartet present Bridgerton by Candlelight at 6.30pm and then Vivaldi’s Four Seasons at 8.30pm by candlelight.
Fri 13 Dec. Burdall’s Yard. The Cher Experience. 7.30pm. This sensational show brings Cher’s iconic voice, dazzling costumes, and unforgettable performances to life.

Sun 15 Dec. Mission Theatre. Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite and Other Pieces. Bath’s super star pianist Nurry Lee takes to the stage with a Christmas musical journey with Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite arranged by Mikhail Pleynev. 2-7pm.
Mon 16 Dec. Komedia. Uproar! Christmas Special – A festive edition of their ever-popular club night exclusively for adults with learning difficulties, their families and carers. 7.30pm.

Fri 20 Dec. A Christmas Carol. Theatre Royal Bath. Guy Masterson’s solo performance of Charles Dickens’s festive tale. 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Tue 24 Dec. Christmas Eve. Bath Abbey Midnight Communion. Be there at the very start of Christmas. A celebration of Christ’s birth, and with him the birth of new hope for the world. An informal service for all the family with traditional carols. All welcome, no reserved seating or tickets required but we expect the Abbey to be full to capacity. 11pm.

Sat 23 Nov-Tue 24 Dec. Santa Specials at Avon Valley Railway. Enjoy a mince pie or festive biscuit onboard the train as you travel the line on a 50 minute ride. At Bitton Station, there’s a chance to meet Santa and have a present.
Wed 1 Jan. London New Year’s Parade. The route will move from Piccadilly, through Regent Street and St James’s, along Pall Mall and through Whitehall, ending at Westminster.
