Bath Voice Sports News: Results Round-up for the city’s teams with an away win for The Romans

By Harry Mottram: It’s been a weekend of mixed results for the city’s top teams with encouragement for the footballers of Twerton Park but disappointment for the rugby team and the netball team.

Netball: London Pulse 71 Team Bath 42. Bath University’s team who play in the national top tier of the sport in the 2023 Netball Super League have suffered opening defeats in the new campaign. In the opening match in Nottingham they lost 52-86 to Loughborough Lightening followed by defeat to London Pulse.

Football: Dulwich Hamlet 1 Bath City 2. An excellent win away against the team with highest fan following in the league with Elliott Frear and Scott Wilson both netting for The Romans to grab maximum points. It leaves Bath in mid table in 12th position – 10 pints off the play-offs but with games in hand. Match report at: https://www.bathcityfc.com/frear-stuns-dulwich-with-stoppage-time-winner/

Rugby: Bath RFC 10 London Irish 25. The result leaves the Blue Black and Whites on 24pts and bottom of the Gallagher Premiership table – reduced in size after Wasps and Worcester went bust. However there’s no relegation this season while the sport collectively debate the way forward of the league structure.

Hockey: Chippenham 2 Bath Hockey Club Men’s 2s 1

Sunday

Women’s Football: Paulton Rovers 1 Bath City Women 1. An important point on the road for City thanks to Tanea Wright’s first half goal.
