Bath Voice Traffic News: delays expected on the A4 between Bath and Saltford this week

By John Wimperis, Local Democracy Reporter: Temporary traffic lights will be in place for more than a week on the main road between Bath and Bristol.

The two-way traffic signals will be in place on the A4 between Bath and Saltford from 9.30am on Monday April 3 until early morning on Tuesday April 11.

Wales & West Utilities will be making essential repairs to an underground gas pipe — although some of the time will be spent just waiting for the concrete to cure.

Bath and North East Somerset Council is advising commuters to plan their journeys carefully while the works are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Wales & West Utilities said: “We know that working on roads like these is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

“We’re very aware of the effect that our work can have on communities and commuters which is why we’re working closely with Bath & North East Somerset Council to get this essential work done while causing the least inconvenience to the community.”

The council hopes that having the work take place over half term will reduce the impact on traffic, but delays are still expected.
