Bath Voice News: Letter to the Editor – children and teenagers encouraged to take up the Rec’s mallet and hoop sport this April with free sessions at Bath’s Croquet Club – no experience or equipment needed

Dear Editor, I am writing to encourage young people to take up a sport that everyone can play. Let the adventure begin at Bath Croquet!

Bath Croquet club are breaking ground by launching a Croquet Academy for 11-18 year olds during the Easter school holidays.  Participants will be welcomed into the croquet community and development of their skills in the game will be supported by qualified, experienced coaches.  The opportunity to play competitively, both locally and nationally, can be provided when players have mastered the skills required.

Introductory sessions are free and being held 7th – 10th and 14th-17th April from 10-3pm each day on Bath Recreation ground.  All equipment is provided and no experience is necessary.  This is a very exciting time for the club and local schools have been contacted to spread the news of this venture.

So often croquet is seen as a sport for the rich and elderly but Bath is busting that myth.  In fact, Harry Dodge, a Bath member in his mid-twenties has just taken up a position as croquet pro in Florida. So, opportunities to create a career from your love of croquet are a realistic aim.

However,  if you are outside of the above age range we are offering free taster sessions for adults on 26th April and 31st May.

To register your interest, whatever your age, please use this link
