Bath Voice News: plans submitted by The Walcot Group to restore and reopen The White Hart in Widcombe

By Harry Mottram: The White Hart in Widcombe could soon be once again a pub after The Walcot Group in Bath put in plans to the council to refurbish and restore the hostelry as a commercial public house by the Walcot Group.

The group have a number of businesses in Bath and the area and currently run the Walcot House pub and restaurant in the city.

Standing at the bottom of Widcomeb Hill the pub is a key building in the village overlooking the roundabout and cross roads of Prior Park Road, St Matthew’s Place and Widcombe Parade.

The pub ceased trading a year ago and has been reported to have fallen into a state of disrepair.
The Grade II listed building dates to the early 1700s with the Bath History Research Group giving this information: “Richard Jones, Clerk of Works to Ralph Allen, states that he built it, and it is mentioned in the Vestry Survey of 1737.”
