Bath Voice Sports News: Beechen Cliff schoolboys selected for U18 England Rugby training camp this weekend – full list here

By Harry Mottram: Two Beechen Cliff players have been selected by England U18 Men’s head coach Jonathan Pendlebury and assistant coach Will Parkin for a camp at Pennyhill Park. The three-day meeting commences this Friday, aiding in age-grade players’ development within a senior professional environment in preparation for the 2026 U18 Six Nations Festival next April.

Included within the 43-player group are Beechen Cliff’s Declan Treacey and Max Hooper. The fleet of foot backs will be hoping to make an impression on the coaches at the training camp – which also includes lads from Gloucester, Exeter and Bristol. Georgia Faosiliva,of Hartpury College – another player from Bath Rugby Academy, has also been named in the squad.

With the support of men’s pathway staff including U20 Men’s head coach Andy Titterrell and Head of Men’s Player Pathway Mark Mapletoft, the cohort will access the facilities at the England Rugby Performance Centre for the first time. Nathan Catt and Kevin Sorrell will also be involved with scrum and defence coaching, respectively.

Upon conclusion of the PREM Next Gen Academy League and RFU ACE Boys League, England U18 Men will return to camp on 25 February ahead of a preparation fixture against France at Chinnor RFC on Saturday 14 March (kick-off: 2pm).

Pendlebury said: “This weekend is a highlight in our season and an opportunity for our development group to experience world class training facilities whilst representing the rose. A real focus of this camp is alignment and serving as a touchpoint for those within the pathway to support the evident talent set to progress through the age-grades. We are revisiting our speed principle and looking to layer space on-field, with an off-pitch focus of seizing the opportunity the environment offers and to continue prioritising psychological areas of development.

“Taking to the pitch following on from a successful autumn for the senior and Men’s A set-ups, complemented with bespoke coaching from across the pathway, is an inspiring prospect for our young players this week. We hope that with all staff from across the pathway, this camp provides an exciting opportunity for us all to get better.”
