By Harry Mottram: Bath City’s future in National League South – the sixth division of the football pyramid – is hanging by a thread. Until it is mathematically impossible for the team to survive with only a handful of games left fans will cling onto the possibility of league salvation. After manager Darren Way was sacked last month, the team were briefly managed by James Moon, Bath City Academy Manager. A few days later the club moved to appoint Scott Bartlett as the new first team Manager saying: “Scott joins with a wealth of management experience at both Weston-super-Mare and Eastleigh and we’re thrilled to welcome him to Cannon Clarke Stadium at Twerton Park.”
Scott Bradley summed up the club’s situation in a statement on social media: “We are in a difficult spot there is no denying it but I am not phased by that, it’s about the potential, the people and the ongoing project. Having played for Bath City as part of a brilliant team I have seen first hand how the community comes together to support the club and what that means to the players. I am delighted to commit my future to Bath City FC and am excited about the future.”
His upbeat tone will be welcomed by many at the club and the city’s wide base of supporters with the hopes that the team can conjure up a winning run and THE GREAT ESCAPE however realistically the Roman’s only chance is to overhaul Chippenham and Farnborough with their best seeing those two teams lose their remain games and City gaining maximum points. If there is hope then the one nil win over Chippenham on Saturday at Twerton in front of 2,000 people gave the team three valuable points.

Bath Rugby: Bath Rugby head through to the Investec Champions Cup Quarter-Finals after defeating Saracens 31-22 in the Round of 16 – their arch rivals in the Prem. Tries: Henry Arundell (43, 79), Joe Cokanasiga (49), Ben Spencer (58). Conversions: Finn Russell (44, 50, 72).
They next have Northampton Saints on Friday 10th April in an Investec Champions Cup – Quarter-final at 8pm KO; and on Saturday 18th April an English Gallagher Prem game Bath Harlequins, at 17:30pm – also at the Rec. In the Prem they sit one point behind Saints having had three wins from the last three games. To be champions they need Saints to slip up and for Bath to get maximum points in their remaining games – seeing off Leicester in June if possible.

Work on rebuilding the £75m stadium won’t start until the end of next season – the club lost a hefty £2m plus in the last financial year despite the success on the field.
