By Harry Mottram: The new season for Bath Rugby effectively starts in August with training and a pre-season game against Perpignan before an away game in September at Sale. Last season had been a disappointment in some ways with that agonising defeat to Exeter which deprived the Blue Black and Whites of a final at Twickenham. Northampton Saints finished top with 74 points while Bath came second just five points behind while Exeter were on 65 and Leicester on 63 points. Northampton Saints beat Exeter Chiefs 26-17 in the final. It’s too early to judge who will prevail this coming season but most pundits feel it will be the same four clubs that dominated the season last time with possibly Saracens having a say. Bath will hope that this time they’ll be in top spot come June 2027 and dispel the memories of their last gasp loss to the Chiefs.
