If you’re looking for a family-friendly autumn day out this October, Avon Valley’s Pumpkin Patch certainly delivers. The popular attraction near Bath has transformed its fields into a colourful celebration of autumn with home-grown pumpkins, live entertainment, seasonal games and plenty of opportunities for memorable photos.
From the moment we arrived, it felt like being at a pumpkin festival. Wheelbarrows stood ready for visitors heading into the home-grown pumpkin patch, while hundreds of pumpkins, squashes and gourds had been carefully arranged on rustic wooden displays, vintage trucks and farm carts throughout the site. The colourful displays provided fantastic photo opportunities and showcased an impressive variety of shapes, sizes and colours. Choosing a favourite proved almost as difficult as deciding which pumpkins to take home.
The site has been beautifully decorated, with farm-themed displays, fairy lights and creative installations adding to the festive atmosphere. We particularly enjoyed spotting the unusual pumpkins and the striking pumpkin tree, which quickly became a favourite photo spot.
Entertainment runs throughout the day, with hourly performances including a lively witches’ dance and a humorous Halloween-themed sketch. The performers were energetic, engaging and always happy to stop for photographs, helping to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
There is plenty to keep children busy beyond pumpkin picking. Seasonal activities include apple slingshot games, target challenges and bottle-smashing games, while two fire pits provide the perfect place to toast marshmallows and enjoy warming drinks and doughnuts.
New attractions for 2026 include the Big Boo Trail, an immersive walk-through experience featuring Halloween illuminations and spooky displays, and Rivals Bar, where families and friends can challenge one another to games including table football, air hockey and darts.
Pets are welcome too, adding to the relaxed and friendly feel of the event. During our visit, visitors arrived with dogs in Halloween costumes, helping to add to the seasonal fun.
With its mix of pumpkin picking, family entertainment, seasonal treats and impressive autumn displays, Avon Valley Pumpkin Patch offers a well-organised and enjoyable day out. Whether you’re visiting with young children, friends or even the family dog, there’s plenty here to get you into the spirit of the season.
