By Harry Mottram: The Glovers took the spoils in the all Somerset clash at Twerton Park on a chilly December night with the late, late show when Morgan Williams scored with just 10 minutes left in the pouring rain sending the 1,100 Yeovil fans wild.

In the eagerly awaited fixture – one of several this season of West Country derbies – Bath City held the South Somerset outfit in an evenly contested game in which the Romans deserved at least a point having edged it with a strong performance. Yeovil are currently one of the top sides in the National League South as they battle to be promoted back to the National League and eventually the Football League – an ambition matched by Bath City.

In the club’s match report it stated: “Neither side could gain the upper hand during a cagey opening 45 minutes although it was City who shaded the half. An early Dan Hayfield cross just evaded Scott Wilson before Kieran Parselle directed his 28th minute header from a corner to close to Day. Then five minutes before the interval the ball broke to Elliott Frear but his shot was blocked by several Yeovil bodies in the six-yard box. The visitors had shown little in the way as an attacking force during the first half and, although they began to see more of the ball after the break, City continued to look comfortable at the back. On the hour mark a cross picked out Frear but his goalbound shot was blocked on the line by Smith. Just as the game looked to be heading to a share of the points the Glovers struck through Williams’ close range finish. City threw everything they could at the full-time side after this but, despite seven minutes stoppage time, couldn’t find a equaliser that their performance deserved.”
