Football: Bath City FC: An away win at Weston-super-Mare by one goal to nil lifts Bath into eighth in the Vanarama National League South just one point off the play-offs behind Torquay. However Bath has games in hand over the Devonshire and one time Football League team so a late season push for promotion is still on. Cody Cooke grounded the Seagulls with his 50th goal in the 50th minute as he beat Max Harris in goal for the seasiders. Weston -super-Mare pressed throughout the game with Bath’s Josey Casa-Grande kept busy in City’s goal but the Romans also came close with when Dan Hayfield headed close and Scott Wilson saw his second half shot rise above the crossbar. The Seagulls will feel they should have had at least a draw but City held out at 0-1 to take home all three points as they march on with their promotion hopes intact.
Rugby: Bath Rugby Union Club: Bath missed out on victory away in France by 31-19 to an inform Toulouse side in the cup last Sunday leaving them facing a final match against Exeter in April as they hope to make the quarter-finals with a win at Sandy Park.
The club reported: “In a gutting loss for the Blue, Black and Whites, the team and the Bath Rugby faithful can look towards their Round of 16 fixture filled will immense pride after an inspiring performance in Toulouse.”
Bath fell behind and after 20 minutes were 12-0 down but Beno Obano and Thomas du Toit pulled them level before Toulouse went further ahead and Charlie Ewels was yellow carded. Ollie Lawrence touched down before the break and with a conversion by Ben Spencer the scores were tied. With just minutes to go Toulouse scored two tries – but it was not to be for Bath who were just one point short of a bonus point as the game ended.
There was strong contingent of fans who made the trip to Gaul, a fact acknowledged by the club in a statement: “A huge mention must be made for the amazing support the team were shown by the travelling fans, coming out in their droves in the hoops of Bath to cheer on the team.”

Team Bath Netball: Vice-captain Neve Marsden and Sascha Dale earn England call-up for 2024 Europe Netball U17 Championship Team Bath Netball NPL duo Sascha Dale and Neve Marsden have been named in the England squad for the 2024 Europe Netball U17 Championship, which is taking place in Gibraltar from 7-10 March. Marsden, who plays GA/GS, will be vice-captain of the 12-strong squad which also includes team-mate Dale, who plays WA/C, after they impressed at trials over the weekend. Both currently represent the Blue & Gold at U19 level, with Dale – who came through the Team Bath Athlete Development Centre in Wiltshire – having also played for the club in the U15 and U17 age groups.
The 2024 Netball Super League season begins on Saturday 17th February with an away game against Strathclyde Sirens. See the full fixture list below.

There are four main teams – with two elevens of the Bath Wanderers Women sides and an U19’s XI as well. Established in 1982, the Bears are in Division 1 of the Wiltshire County Cricket League (WCCL) on Saturdays, with a home ground at The Glasshouse Academy, Bradford Road, Combe Down, Bath; there’s also games in Division 7 Blue of the Somerset Monmouth League on Saturdays, home ground the Ken Willcox Ground, Peasedown St John, Bath; and friendlies against clubs based in Somerset/Wiltshire on Sundays; and T20 games against clubs based in Somerset/Wiltshire midweek; plus they participation in the Somerset Knock Out cup.

Cricket: Hampset Cricket Club: based at Bloomfield Rise, Odd Down, Bath, the club was founded in 1940 and features a large number of elevens including the Scholars, development XI, midweek Saturday and Sunday elevens, junior teams from under 9s to u13s and indoor squads. Modern Pentathlon: Team GB had an incredible performance at the home World Championships held at the University of Bath, with a seven-strong squad qualifying across the women’s and men’s finals.

The Blue, Black and Whites are in the Champions Cup pool stages in 2023/24. Taking place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the home of next year’s final, Sarra Elgan and Vincent Pochulu announced Bath Rugby’s fate for their European campaign. Being drawn in Pool 2, Bath Rugby will take on two French teams in the form of Top14 Champions, Stade Toulousain, along with Racing 92 and the URC’s Cardiff Rugby and Ulster Rugby. Bath Rugby have also drawn Harlequins, however under the Champions Cup’s new format, teams within the same league drawn into the same pool will not play each other.
Within the new format, the Champions Cup sees four pools of six teams, totalling 24 teams. The teams are split into two tiers; the four winning teams from the 2022/23 leagues (Munster, La Rochelle, Stade Toulousain and Saracens) make up Tier 1, with the remaining 20 qualifying teams placed into Tier 2. In a club first, the Blue, Black and White will take on Racing 92 who finished fifth in the Top14, giving new signing Finn Russell the chance to front up against his former French side.
Recent Top14 winners, Stade Toulousain, may also get the chance to visit The Rec, giving Bath a shot at redemption after a narrow 20-22 defeat the last time the French champions were in town in 2018.
Cardiff Rugby, who picked up the Welsh Shield for 2022/23, were handed a 38-3 hammering in 2016 and will look for retaliation come the pool stages.
Northern Ireland-based outfit Ulster Rugby, who were knocked out in this year’s URC 2022/23 quarter finals, complete Bath Rugby’s Pool fixtures for 2023/24.
