By Harry Mottram: Bath Rugby saw red when they lost heavily away to Irish powerhouse Leinster by 47-21 last week but it was Summer Hemmings who brought smiles to the crowd at Twerton Park this week as the women reached the quarter finals of the cup when she scored early in the game against Pen Mill. The men’s team managed a draw away at Enfield leaving them 10 points above the drop zone with Chesham awaiting them on Saturday 25th January at Twerton Park.
Football: Bath City FC: On January 4th the club lost their first game of the year to Dorking away from home by a single goal after three wins on the trot. Their away game on Saturday 18th January saw the team draw 1-1 at Enfield with Jordan Alves scoring from a free kick in the first half to give the Romans the lead. Enfield pulled off a draw with only minutes to go to spare their blushes at the at Dave Bryant Stadium. Coach Darren Way said it was a stop-start game with the team finding it difficult to get any tempo. He said it was a challenge playing against a team who used high balls and ‘an ariel game’ as the team couldn’t get more control in the game. Next up is Chelmsford at Twerton Park – now rescheduled for Tuesday 4th February.
Football: Bath City Women FC: On Sunday 15th December they were at home in the league against Cirencester Town and won by 2-1 with Duffy, Thorner-Atkinson scoring the goals. Their game on Sunday 5th January against Corsham Town away was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch but on 12th January they lost in a high scoring game by 4-2 away to Gloucester City. A win in the Somerset Junior Cup on January 19th saw them into the quarter finals with Summer Hemmings, Adella Clarke and Ashley Harris all finding the back of the net against Yeovil outfit Pen Mill.
Football: Larkhall Athletic AFC: 2025 began in style with a 0-3 win away to Westbury. The unbeaten run in 2025 continued with Tavistock on January 4th who they drew 2-2. But defeat at the hands of Yate Town on the 18th January was a blow as they slipped to 17th place in the Southern League Division One South – still clear of the relegation zone for now.
Football: Odd Down: On January 5th they went down to t 5-0 defeat away to Hallen – and then we hit with a home defeat by 0-3 by Devizes Town on the 14th. AEK Boco are their opponents on the 25th away.
Rugby: Bath Rugby Union Club: The Blue, Black and Whites lost away to Leinster by 47-21 points in a game they could have won as they held an early 14pt lead and were ahead at half time. The Irish outfit hit back in the second half in the Investec Champions Cup taking the lead – but it was still all to play for until Obano was given a red card and the came changed. Leinster capitalised on the one man advantage and three quick tries followed which rather flattered the home side. They next play Sale away on Sunday 26th January in the Gallagher Premiership

Modern Pentathlon: Team GB had an incredible performance at the home World Championships held at the University of Bath, with a seven-strong squad qualifying across the women’s and men’s finals.
