Bath Voice is not part of the historic media empires but seeks to give an alternative view of the city and is a franchise publication with sister publications in Bristol and Wells. The FREE newspaper is available from selective outlets in shops and supermarkets and is delivered FREE to thousands of homes in south Bath but covers the whole city – and is available online at ISSU.
In February’s issue there is an update on Bath Rugby Club’s plans for a new stadium, Bear Flat Cricket Cub’s news, problems over a new bus gate, letters about the medical museum and Bloomfield traffic, and a report from southside on domestic abuse – all topics covered including theatre and the arts.
Bath Voice and Local Democracy Reporters
The journalists are funded by the BBC as part of its latest Charter commitment, but are employed by regional news organisations. A total of 165 reporters are allocated to news organisations in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland including Bath Voice. These organisations range from television and radio stations to online media companies and established regional newspaper groups. Local Democracy Reporters cover top-tier local authorities, second-tier local authorities and other public service organisations.
