More than 350 people took part in a glow-in-the-dark fun run at Odd Down Sports Ground, raising over £18,000 to support patients at the Royal United Hospitals Bath.
Participants of all ages joined the sold-out RUHX Glow Run on Friday, October 16, completing either a 2km or 5km route illuminated by lights and neon outfits.
The event was organised by RUHX, the official charity of the Royal United Hospitals Bath, and sponsored by Bath company Freestyle Designs.
Families, friends, NHS staff, university students and local businesses gathered for the evening challenge, which started at sunset and continued under clear night skies.
Runners were led through a mass warm-up by trainers from PureGym Bath before setting off on the glowing course. Local firm LuxLync provided LED wristbands, helping turn the route into a colourful display visible across the sports ground.
The event attracted supporters ranging from a four-month-old baby to people in their seventies.
Ellie Wilkinson-Brown, Events and Community Manager at RUHX, said: “This year’s Glow Run was our best and biggest yet. Seeing hundreds of local people come together for a shared cause of supporting the RUH Bath was incredibly special.
“We are so grateful to all of our extraordinary Glow Runners, volunteers, sponsor Freestyle Designs and spectators for playing their part in ensuring every patient receives extra extraordinary care.”
The money raised will help RUHX fund projects that support patients, staff and healthcare services at the RUH.
The Glow Run was launched in 2024 and has quickly become one of the charity’s biggest community fundraising events. Details of future Glow Run events will be announced on the charity’s website ruhx.org.uk.
