By Harry Mottram: Bath Rugby are in the final of the 2024-25 Premiership Rugby Cup Final at Twickenham after they beat Newcastle Falcons away by 29-41. Meanwhile club captain Ben Spencer has signed a new three-year contract, extending his stay with the Blue, Black and Whites until the summer of 2028 while Tom Carr-Smith has also signed up for another season as scrum half. In football Bath City look like being safe for another season as long as they keep picking up points but Larkhall Athletic are certainly in danger of relegation as they have some tricky games to come.
Bath City FC: Bath remain in 17th spot in the Vanarama National League South some eight points off the drop zone after a home win over Slough on Tuesday night. A goal less draw with Weston-super-Mare last Saturday added another point to their tally as they enter the run into the final games this season. The danger comes from St Albans and Welling who have games in hand but are running out of fixtures to drag City in a relegation dog fight. Bath play Tonbridge this Saturday at Twerton Park before an away game by the seaside in Torquay – the former Football League side.
Bath City Women FC: The team lost to Wells City on Sunday 9th Match at home by 0-1 and face Frome on the 16th March away in the Somerset town. They are in 5th place in the league with their final game on May 18 – so plenty more football to come.
Football: Larkhall Athletic AFC: They bagged three points away in Cornwall last week against high flying Mousehole AFC with a one goal victory and next welcome Bideford on Saturday before another trip to Cornall on the 22nd to face Helston. Their league position is in danger as they are just one point above the relegation zone.
Bath Rugby Union Club: A strong win over Newcastle away in the Premiership Rugby Cup by 29-41 on the 7th March which followed their win over Harlequins at the Rec in the same competition got them back on track after the loss to Bristol on February 15th. In the same cup competition, they play Exeter away this coming Sunday before to a league fixture against the Cherries on Sunday 23 March at the Rec. In the Gallagher Premiership bath are top of the table.
Six Nations U20s: England play Wales on Friday night away with Bath’s Kepu Tuipulotu and George Timmins in the line up and Connor Treacey as a replacement.
Six Nations: Bath’s Finn Russell slotted three conversions for Scotland on Saturday in Cardiff against Wales last week after finding his kicking boots and is set to play in the game against France on Saturday when he will hope for revenge after last year’s last gasp Gallic victory. For England Bath’s Ollie Lawrence will again be in the thick of the action when they play Wales in Cardiff as will Will Stuart who had a stand out game last week as the duo helped England to a big win against Italy.
