In Jane Austen’s novel Pride and Prejudice Darcy is Bingley’s friend and owner of Pemberley in Derbyshire, who despite his arrogant persona eventually falls for the book’s hero Elizabeth Bennet. A novel that has been made into a number of movies and TV series.
